How did that upside down pudding turn out Cj, upside down?
We have some food stocked in the cupboard to start on Christmas eve, we've been careful not to buy too much and trying to only over indulge on the major holiday days...we'll see how that goes.
Tonight we are having cheese, crackers, mushroom pate and homemade chutney and some french bread, keeping it simple

Terrible menu tonight, hardly hotel standard (mind you depends on what type of hotel you frequent ) Toasted crumpets with melted cheese atop with baked beans
Opened a tin of quality street tonight took the lid off and put them in the lounge, told OH he is not to touch them, they're for decoration only as they're pretty

I love toasted crumpets. That sounds lovely and I do think there’s too much pressure to create real meals all the time. A tasty something is all you really need.
I think we’re having a takeaway tonight. Probably a Chinese. OS went out last night for a Chinese hotpot but I think he’ll still eat a takeaway. The whole house reeks of garlic and it’s just from him.
Your recipe does look good BB, and as you scroll down there is a recipe for a vegan jambalaya. We have our vegan daughter with us at the mo and I am running out of ideas for suppers we would all like, so I shall definitely be giving the vegan recipe a go tonight...got all the ingredients too...apart from the celery which none of us care for anyway...thank you BB
January has been a strange month for us meal wise, we have been opening the fridge and putting something together quickly, one evening we had toasted brie and bacon sarnies with home made chips, we never cook chips at home and we rarely have bacon...the chips were cooked in olive oil and baked. We did have a small salad too...we really enjoyed it all, naughty but nice!
Daughter's home for a few days now though, so vegetarian roast tonight and probably something gooey and chocolatey for pud.
Has anyone attempted to do dry January? How has it been? We didn't particularly, but we are definitely not drinking so much....the Sunday bubbles tradition has remained intact though, so all is not lost
Your meal sounds really nice tbh Cj, good idea to get inspiration from what's hanging around.
I don't really drink, Mulled wine at Christmas and a shandy or two in the summer. A few Sgt Major teas in December and that's it. 10 units a year probably.
My brother and his friend are doing the dry January, he's not had a drop for 22 days, it's funny but in that short time he's got a better colour to his face and looks somewhat "fresher" I made sure to pay him plenty of compliments to boost his morale He said he'd been knocking it back somewhat since the Autumn and it needed to stop.

I had got into a habit of having a glass of wine before dinner but don’t every day now but I do like it! 😄
I went to my sisters on Sunday and her hubby cooked a delicious lamb meatball dish using a Yotam Ottolenghi recipe - I was so impressed, I’m going to attempt it for my Son and his family in Brighton when I visit this weekend 🥰
