Tonight we are having salmon, lemon and leeks baked in foil, leeks slightly sauted first, small new roast potatoes and a veg gratin made with whatever veg we have in the chill drawer, looks like red pepper, sugar snap peas and broccoli.
Does anyone normally have a pudding after supper? OH would have one every night if I let him, we don't normally eat until 7.30 - 8.00 ish and I worry that all that sugar and fat is going to sit around in his tummy all night, so I only let him have one at weekends...he says I am mean....am I mean?
Lunch was great Cj, lots of hugs and kisses, so happy to see my family, was a lovely day, so much fun and my face hurts from laughing. Mum made lunch and she did really well.
Salmon is such a favorite of mine Cj, another great meal from you.
You say you won't let your husband have pudding every evening, is he 5 yes, very mean
Talking of 5, we have Jelly most nights as a pudding, sometimes with cream or ice cream or custard or yoghurt on top.

I love salmon too but not a fan of leeks. Horrible texture to them! Great to hear you had a lovely family lunch B. A good old laugh does wonders. Cj you sound like my OH. He does not like ME eating anything sweet as he can see the pounds going on before it’s hit my stomach. I groan and growl about him as I think he’s a meany but actually if he wasn’t like that I’d be a few stone heavier. Jelly wouldn’t cut the mustard for me B.
He's not 5 BellaT...otherwise it would be jelly and custard ...he's just fat...ish!
touche Cj
Never ever had a frangipane tart, must try one day.
Tonight we are having pearl barley bacon and leek casserole, with added sausage. Had it last week but it's one of his favourites and it's a very autumn day so totally in order.
Indian Buffet LL, sounds so nice and a party to accompany it. Hope you had a great time x

Veg pie tonight made from the fresh veg we have left over from the weekend, topped with pastry left over from the pear tart I made over the weekend, mash pots and frozen ps. I make a cheese sauce for the pie. Lots of tart left over for pud... too much pastry for me.
Do you normally have a glass of wine with supper? We do at the weekend, but during the week not so much. However, tonight I feel a petit v chilled sauv blanc would go down a treat as I have been wrestling with the planning office for most of today and it's done me head in
You put a lot of effort in Cj, your husband is very lucky .
We had a friend over a few weeks back, he is now single. I made us all vegetarian mince with loads of mushrooms, beans etc in it spread over a base of kobocha pumpkin with a peppercorn sauce on top, served in the fashion of a lasagne. This friend shovelled the food into his mouth like no one was watching...all very uncomfortable actually, I looked out of the window while this was going on. Then I thought poor guy must be half starved as he asked if he could have another helping, then another
Tonight I'm taking a very easy route... Baked sweet/potatos with a variety of help yourself fillings No wine for us, but a beer for OH, which I will have a few sips of.

Cheers Cj ! it's been one of those weeks again and I am gazing lovingly at a soupcon of Rose - Whispering Angel.
We are having mushroom stir fry with rice noodles and teryaki chicken bites. Quick and easy but tasty.
OH made a shepherds pie for this evening with veggies on the side. Broccoli, baby corn, asparagus, steamed. Glass of white wine courtesy of British Airways. We both had points that were going to expire due to lack of activity so ‘bought’ wine with our avios points.
I would love my OH to do the cooking, food always tastes better when someone else cooks it
SD, I don't eat animals with 4 legs If we have sausages, OH has 4 legged sausages, mine have none. He has bacon, I have facon. I do eat chicken and fish. I use veggie mince (OH likes that) and no bull burgers are delicious. I do love the smell of meat and everyones recipes sound so nice.

I bought a terracotta clay oven brick - it was a steal, cost me £5 - used to have one years ago, so very happy to have one again.
I've put potatos, leeks, carrots, sprouts chicken thighs, onions and garlic in it tonight seasoned with tarragon, sage , parsley salt and pepper, some olive oil, few knobs of butter... it's nearly ready.
Having a late dinner this evening, been working in the garden with OH.

So tonight, I have cranberry and brie tartlets on a rocket salad with a dash of balsamic. Not homemade tarts I'm afraid but bought from a farm shop. It was going to be the starter for yesterdays roast but I didn't think I had room for a starter and pud, so pud won!!
