I had a few days away in Harlech last week. Bought some fresh sea Bass from the fishmonger in Porthmadog, and had it with Samphire and capers, and spuds. Was absolutely lovely! Also cooked Basque chicken - chicken thighs seasoned and sealed, then saute onions, peppers and peeled and deseeded tomatoes, garlic, paprika, bay leaves, white wine and chicken stock. Re-add the chicken and simmer for 45 mins. Very tasty!
I really love Kiev’s too B, got lots of whole chickens to get through first 🙄
I made a quiche yesterday with fresh trout fillets instead of bacon, only problem is that I’m not much good at portion control, got quiche four nights running now 😳 hey ho, saves worrying about what to have for supper 😉
We have quiche tonight, from the Farmer's market...cheat or wot ...I shall do chips in olive oil and cooked in the oven, and make a coleslaw...easy. I also bought a chocolate cake and a lemon drizzle from the market too...I shall use low fat mayo and yoghurt in the coleslaw to make amends ..maybe..
Hope you enjoyed that meal Cj, very nice. I also cook the chips for OH in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper and sometimes sprinkle with garlic salt or paprika.
Tonight...ta da.. Salmon en croute with tender stem broccoli

Fish again last night - basa fillets in lemon and dill, with lemon crushed new potatoes, and green beans with capers. Bit thrown together but tasty nonetheless
Everyone's suppers sound amazing, some lovely ideas/recipes....I love the idea of samphire and capers together VWC , we are having salmon en croute tonight,( M&S not Cj ), I am going to do samphire, capers and sugar snaps with it.
No puddings or wine this week, we are trying to be good.... .....we will still have bubbles Sunday..it's the law!
For anyone who likes the odd glass of bubbles, but doesn't want to pay champagne prices and doesn't like Prosecco, ( I really don't like prosecco ), have you tried French Cremant/sparkling wines? French bubbles just not made in Champagne, one of my favourite rose sparkling wines is £ 6.99 from Aldi, here is a link to it on the Aldi site. It has good reviews and is a very pretty bottle too.
Aldi's and Lidl's blanc cremants are also very good. If the link doesn't work for you, it is the Fleurs De Prairie Sparkling rose on the Aldi site.
Also the Aldi Cremant du Jura at £ 8.99 a bottle is very good, this is sold out online at the moment....( I bought them all ) but maybe available in the stores.
We have dinner guests, 2 marinated chickens, with stuffing, pigs in blankets, honey glazed parsnips, carrots, red cabbage brocolli, sprouts. yorkshire puddings and red wine gravy.
Followed by Christmas pudding, mince pies dark berry strudel , cheese and biscuits. Mulled wine

That sounds amazing BellaT...you forgot the cat litter though
Do you enjoy 'entertaining' like that?...It is an awful lot of work and prep beforehand.
I really like the idea of that type of soiree, but when the time comes I do get a bit stressed.
We are having vegetable lasagne tonight, loads of veg we need to use, with garlic and parsley ciabatta and salad, OH has made a trifle, ...can't be doing with that...he does make his own custard though.
Yes, I do enjoy entertaining, these particular dinner guests are just the best, you know you are going to be laughing from the moment they arrive, they are so much fun - love it.
Had a great dinner and great evening all round and they didn't even notice the cat litter
Veg Lasagne Cj,... nice, what's wrong with trifle? , love that stuff, 5 year olds party food again

Veg curry and saffron rice tonight, OH cooking, he also says he is going to make an upside down pineapple pudding...well, we'll see how that turns out, last time he tried to make a sponge pudding you could have posted it through our letterbox.
Have you all for yer christmas goodies either ordered or already in the fridge/freezer? We have just about , apart from the fruit, veg and turkey...oh yeah...so that's most of it then really
