I've never really enjoyed poetry - I'm an avid reader but poems I find uncomfortable. I wish you well though and well done for getting published
Thank you. I actually got published in the United Press poetry book "Women Poets Of The Year 2015". 20 women were selected for the book: I was one of them. I was surprised at the time but can see why they put my work in their book.
Congratulations Miss CG on your achievements. You obviously enjoy what you do. Like Bellatrix, I’m not a poetry reader. For me, I believe my brain just doesn’t have enough cells to understand poetry unless it’s in simple, plain format. I actually have written a few myself but I don’t think you’d appreciate them.

Writing poetry is a skill I enjoy having.
Thats a wonderful achievement, you must be very proud. Well done
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.

Thank you: being one of twenty people and being chosen out of thousands of people isn't the norm. In fact - even though United Press is gone - it had been extremely difficult to be put in their poetry books. Yet I still managed it. I had other poems put in their books:
Blue Candy
Candy Girl
The Yarn Weaver
Memories in Water
The Devil
There are a few others but those are the main ones.
Not into poetry either - John Cooper Clarke is probably the closest I have got. At my daughter's wedding, my son read "I Wanna Be Yours" which raised a bit of a chuckle from the guests. For anyone who doesn't know it, here are the words:-
I wanna be your vacuum cleaner Breathing in your dust I wanna be your Ford Cortina I will never rust If you like your coffee hot Let me be your coffee pot You call the shots, babe I just wanna be yours Secrets I have held in my heart Are harder to hide than I thought Maybe I just wanna be yours I wanna be yours, I wanna be yours Let me be your leccy meter And I'll never run out Let me be the portable heater That you'll get cold without I wanna be your setting lotion Hold your hair in deep devotion At least as deep as the Pacific Ocean Now I wanna be yours Secrets I have held in my heart Are harder to hide than I thought Maybe I just wanna be yours I wanna be yours, I wanna be yours Wanna be yours
She wanted a non-traditional wedding, and that fitted in perfectly
The music she had playing while the guests were waiting for her to appear was a bit different too .... Jurassic Park theme tune and Jaws! (My MIL raised her eyes and presumed someone had put the wrong music on!)
