I have always been aware that they put some unnatural things in pet food. I started to look for pet foods with no wheat in (wet food), quite a few to be had and some of the dry makes have better ingredients than others. Cats wouldn't usually eat wheat or rice or other cereals if they had a choice. Not a lover of dry food usually at all, but have had to feed them the special one in order to help them make friends. Will be back on meat only soon I hope.
Good call 6herry, how does your dog like it?
The homemade is good Trisha
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
Well, the dog is enjoying it, and never let off wind once last night, and she usually does.
Now we are debating raw chicken bones, I am not keen but the SO has found lots of evidence online to support it. Apparently uncooked chicken bones are soft, do not fracture into sharp points, and are good for them....
We thought we would try raw chicken as the main part of our dogs diet. Currently she is on complete dried dog food.
Has anyone else tried natural, non pet food, type diets on their pets?
Yes 6herry, we have always given cooked chicken, we also give our dog raw chicken bones, most chickens sold now are only a few weeks old, therefore, their bones are soft and not brittle, I wouldn't give free range chicken bones, as they could be much older birds. We also give our dog plate scraps, I don't like fat, so she gets that, also she loves cooked pasta and cooked vegetables, she often gets a raw egg every day as one usually gets cracked, very good for the coat, keeps it soft and shiny, she also adores cooked turkey, never give turkey bones though, she occasionally gets wind, but she also burps, aren't dogs just adorable
I am trying to get Fred on different food as he has gone really picky. He shouldn't have too much protein so I have to carefully choose the kibble for one with a low protein content. I mix in some tinned food, fresh meat, vegetables, an egg or fish - but some weeks he barely eats it. He will pick out all the extras and leave the kibble - little monkey!
