Two different scenarios;
Scenario 1
You are staying in a nice hotel in a major town. As you are walking along a corridor leading off from the main reception area you see what looks like litter on the carpet in front of you. You bend down to pick it up and discover it is 2 x £ 20 notes folded together. The corridor is empty, no one is waiting at the lifts. Do you
a) Put it in your handbag, after all finders keepers eh?....or
b) Take it to reception and ask them to make enquires as to who may be missing the two notes?
Scenario 2
You and your partner/chum/dog/ferret are enjoying a lovely meal in a lovely restaurant, it is a while since you have been able to catch up properly, the food is excellent, Martinis have been downed, the wine is flowing, all is good and ticketty boo.
On a table next to you, there are three people, all enjoying a good time, very jovial and a little bit raucous, they leave before you. When you and your whoever are ready to leave, you ask for the bill. The bill arrives and you quickly realise that it is the bill that should have been given to the table of 3 who had already 'paid up' and left.....indicating that they may have paid the bill intended for you.....
On closer investigation of this bill, you realise it is at least £ 22 less than the bill you should be paying. Do you
a) Pay the bill and leave? ....feeling just a bit guilty....
b) Bring it to the waiter's attention, and enquire as to whether or not the departed party had been wrongly given your bill?
Both these situations have happened to me recently...and I just wondered.....
