Now, let me tell you about what happened on our local radio breakfast show this morning, they were discussing ‘Kebabs’ because a local shop, on our patch, won an award.
What’s your favourite kebab order ?
Mine’s a doner, plenty of salad, but no chile, side order of chips please 🙂
Here's the thing Jazzy person, I have never, never had a kebab , I know it's meat, and comes in a flat bread of some sort, but they have just never appealed to me...what have I been missing out on eh?
Also, never had a KFC, never had a Burger King, can count the McDonald's I've had on one hand...
Your local shop must have queues all the way down the street after their award.
Dave from Hairy Bikers passed away today, he seemed to be such a lovely guy, Si will miss him so much.
Good grief Cj, the best time for a visit to the kebab shop is after a night out on the lash, wander through town and buy a kebab, much needed starch after 6-8 pints 🍺 and if you don’t fancy a doner (lamb) kebab then go for a chicken (Shish) kebab, you’re not alone though, plenty of listeners were joining in the show and admitting they had never had one.
Yes, very sad about Dave Myers I’ve been watching their latest tv show, The Hairy Bikers Go West, it has a lovely slow down and relax vibe, and all in the UK………………. rest easy Dave.
I have never had a kebab either, I have never been sure what meat? the put on the stack. I like to recognise what I am eating.
I felt really sad hearing about Dave Myers, he was cooking at the NEC when we went to the Gardners world exhibition. It must have been when Si was ill. He was such a lovely, approachable man.

The meat on the spit is minced lamb with added spices Trisha, the chicken is delicious too.
Kebabs - hmm - the 'elephant leg' doesn't appeal to me - had a chicken kebab years back, in a pitta bread with lovely fresh shredded lettuce and tomato with garlic sauce. All cooked freshly and quite tasty
I've known "kebabs" for decades, long time before it became the most popular snack ever - 350 000 000 kebabs a year eaten in France, 10 000 000 "restaurants ( 300 or more in Paris). In the small market town near our country place, 3. I've known kebebabs for decades, first as "shawarma" in pita bread . The meat used to be lamb, now, it's chicken or turkey. I never eat them as a sandwich, order bread, meat, chips and salad (salad, tomatoe, onion) seperate, no yoghurt sauce, but "harissa" (chili paste). Secret trick : phone the "roaster" about the time they open, reserve your meal, go and get it and you'll have perfect crunchy meat.
