BBBrrrrrr- minus 7 this morning!! I decided to let the car stay safely on the drive, and I walked to work. 25 minutes to get the blood pumping! Feel good, just tingling thighs as trousers not very thick. Whats it like with you?
Minus 6 here VW, but gorgeous blue skies. Let the car defrost with the car heaters as read boiling hot water cracks screens.
I find wearing tights under trousers or even jeans really helps to keep warm. Good exercise on your part - well done
I thought by the time I scraped car, prised open the doors (risking the seals), I could be half way to work lol. So I did. I remember years ago wearing tights under jeans for a cosy feel - but today I sort of enjoyed the freshness of the cold air. Woke me up!

Morning chuckywucks You've put me to shame with your energy. I'm not keen on jeans in the winter, too stiff. Love my suede effect jeggings from TU. so comfy. Our pond outside is like a little skating rink, not that I'm going to attempt it. Off to my Lidl.
-7 here too, very unusual for it to get that cold in the Home Counties. Heating is on so nice and warm indoors - trying not to think about the gas & electric bill!
Yep, freezing my whatsits off here too, that’s outside though, heavy frost has melted now though, the sun is very warm, and our log burner is earning it’s keep.
I feel so sorry for the birds when it’s so cold, I’ve put out granary bread and apple slices and fresh water, I take the food in at night, so not encouraging vermin.
Same here! I needed to go to the store and get cat food but to be honest VW really inspired me, so I wrapped up warm, boots, new mittens and took my snazzy new bag (thanks VW) and walked Really pleased with myself for embracing the elements, it felt good.
You're very kind thinking of the birds Jazzy - I can't encourage them to my garden, the cats will get them.
SD.. I remember my mum and her friends ice skating on the river here when I was little! such a vivid memory. I sat on the quay side swinging my legs watching her. I can't imagine people even contemplating that these days.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
For a week or so, it's been rather cold around here (maybe not as cold as in Northern England or Scotland), between -5 and +4 at most, and two days ago, rain that turned into freezing rain. And snow showers last night. The area has been in "orange alert" since Tuesday night in Northern France, Paris basin, Normandy : traffic restricted specially for lorries, no school transports, limited bus/train service ...and as usual, a good deal of chaos. To day was sunny, but will be cold at night, so not much hope of thaw.

Thanks, Jax, Bella and Jazzy ! There is a Gothic cathedral in Soissons, but this is the Abbaye of Saint Jean des Vignes, remains of a monastery built between the 12th and the 16th centuries. It now belongs to the town and is occupied by heritage-related associations. The tree in front of my dining room window ( there are 2 others in front of the sitting room and the study) is a plane tree. In the summer, my appartment (on the 3rd floor) is somewhat like a "tree lodge !) In many French towns, in districts built by the end of the 19th century, you can see such large avenues planted with trees on both sides (usually plane - horse-chestnut or lime trees). About the weather : - 9° last night ! "Bbbbrrrrrrr !!!!!
Looks fab Shaliby. I remember seeing those long avenues of trees on a road trip through France. You see them replicated on watercolour pictures and they are such a calming sight. Would love to explore more of France. Have happy memories of a trip to Le Mans for the bike Grand Prix many years ago, and trips down to the Champagne region. Beautiful country
Hi Shaliby, it’s good that the Abbaye is being used by the local communities, something that our village church does, they do coffee mornings, knit and stitch, and monthly lunch club, otherwise the church would hardly be used, not even that many weddings now.
Yes I agree with you too VW, how prettier the streets are with trees, I remember that from our trips to France.
