I’ve got a condensing tumble dryer which has never ever dried the washing to snuff dry. My bro said theirs is the same. Has anyone here got one? I loved my first vented one. It lasted years and then the next dried the washing but didn’t last as long. Thinking of replacing mine now as in the winter, I have it on for hours trying to dry everything. Thoughts and suggestions?
I have a vented one but tbh I don't use it nearly as much as I used to (because of electricity cost), however I also have a Lakeland heated airer and have recently invested in a de-humidifier (from QVC - but many others are available!) to put on in the room where I use the airer ... partly as it's meant to make your washing dry quicker, but also because it will (hopefully) stop that room from becoming damp.
I can't pretend to know quite how it works, but I plug it in and set it to the humidity level I want (usually it's showing about 72 so I set it to 55) then let it do it's stuff ..... later on that day, the water reservoir is full of moisture it's pulled out of the air! It does seem to make the washing dry quicker and it avoids that condensation build up on the inside of the windows that sometimes occurs when you are drying things indoors.
Have you compared the price of the air dryer and dehumidifier cost to running a tumble dryer though? When I get time I will check on Which to see if I can find operating costs.
