In France :Lot of damages in the western/ north western areas, winds blowing up to 180km/h along the coast (in Brittany), 150 in Normandy; many trees uprouted; about 1,2M housholds without electricity yesterday, local trains cancelled, roads closed In Aisne (where I live), a truck driver was killed when his vehicle was hit by a tree; but here in Soissons, only strong gusts of wind all day long, and nothing really serious, Thanks God !
I couldn't go out with my sister for lunch today because it was raining heavily and windy. My sister was not amused: but there was nothing I could do. I wasn't going out in the wind and rain: NO WAY.
It's people deprived of electricity, telephone, Internet, water, heating for several days (some friends of mine in Brittany had to wait till yesterday to have electricity and/or water), roads blocked by fallen trees, roofs blown away, cattle suffering as milking and watering devices no longer worked ...and now, a devastating flood in Pas de Calais. Casualties, people hit by falled trees, people drowned, technicians killed why trying to repair power lines. And maybe another storm coming soon. We are all very thankful to our firemen and EDF technicians who did their best to help victims. I'm lucky, no severe damage around here .
