My OH loves Bake Off, so I tend to be doing something else while he's watching it in the background. The standard seemed quite high, but obviously some people had some things go wrong (no point in watching it if everything goes smoothly). Don't have a stand-out favourite yet.
My daughter also loves Bake Off and has set herself the challenge of making the cake which all contestants have to (can't remember what they call that task!) every week. Last week she did the classic chocolate cake with raspberries on the top, from the picture she sent it looked delicious but unfortunately I didn't get to taste it.
I don't like the presenters. Alison Hammond is especially awful. I think Mel & Sue always did it best. Also, I think the general standard isn't what it was - the stuff they served up in last year's final was terrible. Having said all that I'm still watching it. :-)
Bake Off - The Professionals, when it is on, is much more interesting.
I really think it’s past it’s best now, not keen on the presenter’s, Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond give it a lift, which it really needs, but it’s pretty dire, Sue and Mel were the reason I stopped watching years ago, talk about pathetic innuendoes.
No, she wishes ! She has set herself the task of every week making the technical, so week 1 it was that chocolate cake with raspberries on the top, this week it was Custard Creams. She's a good cake-maker, even made her own wedding cakes - although not in traditional style, she did a chocolate cake, a carrot cake and a lemon drizzle cake which went down very well with the guests.
We have encouraged her to apply for a future series, but she really doesn't enjoy doing the pies/fancy schmancy stuff, so it doesn't appeal to her .... plus she's quite shy and would probably hide behind the Kitchen Aid!
