We are having a bit of work done on the outside of the house. Today I went to the freezer in the garage to get a loaf of bread. There was no bread in it but it was full of defrosted food. The blinking builders have switched off the power to that plug! I am so cross and have just spent 2 hours opening everything and putting the food into recycling bags for the refuse collectors on Wednesday. OH told me not to tell them! I googled can you refreeze food that’s been defrosted and the answer seems to be it’s ok but I don’t know how long it’s been off for! I’ve refrozen some blueberries that came from the garden and some breadcrumbs but that’s it.
You can cook food that has been defrosted, then it's ok to freeze. Otherwise, I wouldn't risk it. You could make a claim on your household insurance, but it will probably mean a rise in your costs when your insurance renewal arrives. You really ought to mention it to the builders.

I wouldn't risk it either, except may be vegetables and fruit (but cook them first), and not meat, fish or frozen ready cooked dishes , specially as you don't know how long was the failure!
