I will absolutely confess to this !!! I just love a pair of table lamps, they make a room so cosy. We don't have any ceiling lights downstairs.
An absolute sucker for TK Maxx went in to our local branch this week looking for 2 bedside tables and came out with two pairs of table lamps !!! One pair was for my YS's annexe. They did'nt have any bedside tables, so the next day I thought I'd pop to Homesense in case they had any. Came home with another pair of table lamps !!!!
The first pair I thought were a bargain at £24.99 each, so tall and elegant for the spare spare room, the final pair, were just too beautiful to leave. Very large stone coloured pottery with cut out leaf design. Will look gorgeous in the conservatory. Trouble is, I have to hide all these lamps until we come back from hols from my OH. They are not exactly small
Still looking for a pair of bedside tables

I love Homesense SD, and I do love big table lamps, our biggest table lamp has it's own table, the lamp shade is so big that when we move it has to have it's own packing box, in the biggest size, it's cost us a fortune in removal fees over the years.
We don't have a Homesense close to us at the mo, and every now and then I have withdrawal symptoms and have to make a day trip to York where the closest one is, you always see something there that you realise from that point onwards you can't live without it
So in the last few days you have bought 6 table lamps, good luck with hiding those from OH then
Good on the maths Cj. 2 have gone to my sons house next door, but the other 4, which are not small are hiding by the side of the spare bed. OH never goes in that room. However when we go away both spare rooms will be in use with various family, looking after the dog. Our YS has started night shifts of 12 hours and our dog can't go that long being locked in obviously, so my son-in-law and grandson are coming to stay, my daughter is away working for a few days, to look after the dog in my YS absence.
The things you have to organise to go away !
Back to the lamps. When spare and spare spare room are in use, I am going to sneak the lamps into our bedroom, just before we leave for the airport. OH won't go back upstairs once suitcases are in the car.
I love "Tiffany" table lamps. I've got two, of course not "genuine", but pretty expensive replicas. And a small "Art Nouveau" lamp, ironwork stem featuring ivy leaves, it once belonged to my grandparents. Found a silk shade in a British online store to restore it. Little glass beads hanging round the hem, a little "kitstschy-chic " touch (? if "shabby-chic" is trendy, why not kitschy-chic ?) I'd like to see the lamp you've bought, and hope ... you'll find the bedside tables fitting with them ! xxx
Love the description of your Art Nouveau lamp with the Ivy leaves, can visualise that Shaliby
SD, my word..hopefully your OH isn't one who notices much and if he does, it's a simple "always had those, don't you remember" routine If this is a true addiction, then as your therapist, I'm asking you.... how do you feel now you've got them home? guilty was it just the purchasing of something naughty .. see what I did there.
I agree with the overall thread about the coziness of lamps. I recently purchased 2 corner lamps for my lounge from Ikea (yes, I have an Ikea addiction and like you are forever hiding boxes) they look good in this 60's house, about 5ft high the paper shades are the whole length of them with a warm golden bulb in them.
I have a coffee machine addiction myself, my most recent acquisition is a Siemens 1980 model, very chic
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
I love the sound of your art nouveau lamp too Shaliby with the beautiful ivy leaf work. My lamps are modern in comparison and I still haven't found any bedside tables yet.
When we returned home my OH said "why are there a pair of new table lamps in the spare bedroom" I owned up to buying them to make me happy one day, but he clearly can't count as the other pair were standing on the floor quite close to those and he never noticed them
My daughter did, "mum, why have you so many lamps on the floor of your spare bedroom?"
How many coffee machines do you have then B ? They are not small.
A whole range of modern versions of Gae Aulenti's "Pipistrello" (Bat) lamp, 1965. A bargain sale ....up to 45 % discount ! From 489 to 1729€ (484 to 1500£) And of course, you need a pair !
Ok, "Luv'", don't want to be to blame if your husband asks for a divorce !!! In fact, this lamp is something of a piece of art - I know, because a friend of ours owned one (she was married to a winegrower, champagne producer) and said "Oh, it was a bargain, so I bought 2 more as Xmas presents for my children" ...Thought "Not for your friends" ? Definitely not, had to be satisfied with a boxof chocolates !
Beautiful lamps Shaliby but out of my league in price comparison. I am a bargain buy sort of person. Hunt for items that look expensive but cost very little.
I don't think you have an equivalent to TK Maxx or Homesense in France ?
Oh, SD,I wasn't seriously enticing you to buy one of those lamps, the price is somewhat indecent (better spare for the Orient Express). We have quite a lot of "outlet stores", "factory stores". "Usines Center near Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport was created 1n 1985, there are more than 100 shops, clothes, shoes, houseware ...but the most important concentration of outlet stores probably is in Troyes, in Champagne (Marques Avenue, McArthur Glen...)
