I’m right handed and like to use the right hob the most, the front one, but if I need to simmer I change to left side where there is a less powerful hob, also at the front.
My fave hob plate is whichever one is in use around supper time, don't care where, when or whose...just as long as it's not my little hand doing whatever it is the hob person needs to do to get me supper on a plate, I can do the pouring of vino quite well though ...see....I am not completely useless

I’d never heard the term hob plate/ring. Is that the electric heating coil or the one for gas? Are glass top oven range tops common in the UK? They’re popular here I think because they don’t rust and are easy to clean.
Right hand front, which usually has the dual size option for extra big pots.

It refers to either gas or electricity handyandy, glass tops are available here too, I’ve got a gas hob, only because at our previous house we had so many electricity outages that I wanted the option to be able to use the stove top, and never have to wait four hours, because the ovens are electric,to make dinner or a cup of tea 😄
