This is one of my favourite tv programmes, guaranteed to soothe your soul, all next week - BBC4 at 7.30 - Monday through to Thursday.
Travel with Robbie on his narrow boat ‘Naughty Lass’ on a 300 mile journey across the North of England, he is an easy going presenter and it’s not all plain sailing, but you get to see a lot of countryside off the beaten track and barely a car in sight, except when he needs to use a bridge or underpass.
I’ll try and watch it. We live very close to the Trent & Mersey canal. One of my great, great grandfathers had a very successful canal business based somewhere around Stoke on Trent. I believe it’s still in operation. So I have a bit of an interest in canals but also love walking along a stretch near us. We’ve hired a day boat a couple of times which was a wonderful day out - so peaceful and enjoyable.
I watched on on catch up. I felt rather sad for Robbie as he said he couldn’t keep a girlfriend and he didn’t know why. Seems a lovely chap but washing your socks and pants by hand and hanging them to dry by the fire might be a big turn off!

He did have a girlfriend CC, I think the fact that it was a long distance relationship probably didn’t help, I think the washing situation is probably a bit hit and miss too, he tries to get to a laundrette when he’s in a town, and me personally would prefer clean undies than not, even if they are drying indoors 😀
