On this snowy, cold day we decided to watch a film that was on our ‘to do’ list. It’s a long film, 2 hours and 33 minutes based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque. It’s not one that I could say I enjoyed as there was no joy in it at all, understandably but I’m glad to have watched it. I admit to shedding tears at the end - such a waste of lives!
I think it's a "remake" (2022)- the 1rst adaptation of Remarque's novel dating back to 1930. I haven't seen it yet, but surely will, as it all takes place in the area where I live .
Yes Bellatrix, it is on Netflix. When I was a young girl, Shaliby, my parents visited the grave of my mum’s uncle who was killed in August 1918. I remember going there. Such beautifully tended graves. I don’t know where it was other than the Battle of the Somme sticks in my mind. I will try and find out now.
