We’ve just had the most amazing trip to Costa Rica. Has anyone been? If you love wildlife, birds and animals, diverse ecosystems, amazingly happy, friendly people then look it up.
OH got it in his head from somewhere. He must have been watching tv or read about it so it’s been on his bucket list for a while. We would normally go to Florida in Jan/Feb/Mar to escape the cold so it was instead of that. I was hesitant because of all we hear about Central American dr*gs and m*r*ers there. I thought C R must have similar problems On the contrary, I felt very safe there as everyone we met was so lovely. They have no army and instead put money into education. We met several guides whose fathers/grandfathers had worked in logging, sending wood such as mahogany to us to make into furniture. They now protect their rainforests like gold and the younger generation have learnt that their wonderful country is better left untouched and that tourism is a huge part of their economy. So there are lots of secondary forests which are growing and maturing where once the trees were felled. The diversity of bird and animal life is amazing. I think I’m right in saying they have over 850 bird species, 4 kinds of moneys, 113 types of bats, 1400 species of orchids, both Caribbean and Pacific coasts, rainforests, dry tropical forests, cloud forests, volcanoes, coffee plantations, banana plantations, pineapple plantations, etc, etc.
