We may have had this conversation before, but with the cost of energy soaring I am conscious that these white appliances can be quite energy guzzlers, depending on their age.
I have been astounded when chatting to family & friends as to how many fridges & freezers they own ?? we have one tall fridge/freezer in the house of which the freezer section isn't that big, but I don't tend to store a lot of food. We have a small wine fridge, which we are unplugging this weekend as we don't drink enough to warrant having it on, but that's it.
Quite a few family have chest freezers in their garage with food. How much food can you eat, is my thought ??
An under-counter fridge in the kitchen, an under-counter freezer in the utility room, a big American-style fridge freezer with a wine cooler and a beer fridge .... now that I've written that down, maybe it is a bit excessive - but they are all full!
A tall fridge, a wine fridge, a beer fridge, a large freezer in the garage and a small freezer in the house which as of yesterday has gone on the blink. Wondering weather to repair or dispose of. My freezer in the garage contains things like bags of stewed home grown apples, grapes, whereas in the kitchen it’s ice cubes, lollies for the grandkids, bread.
Have lived in the hills with poverty all around & an inner city ghetto with most poor .
As different as both places may be a common site was old refrigerators left on the front lawn. Signs of poverty ( and people too lazy to take them to the garbage dump ) but now thanks to this post maybe Collectables or street art like a statue ?
