I’m thinking of investing in a plug in throw. The amount of leccy that would use would be minimal compared to putting the fire on. I had to have my gas fire taken out as it was unsafe. Most of the heat went up the chimney anyway. I’ve been given an electric one to keep me going for now. I can see it being expensive to use though.
Magggzz, I have a heated throw. I love it. I have recently had my boiler serviced, the engineer said that the latest guidelines suggested a setting of 60, also turn the water temperature down a few degrees, and your room thermostat at 20. I feel that 20 is too low for me. This is along with turning everything off when you have finished using it e.g. oven, microwave etc.

I've bought one of those over-sized fleecy hoodie things .... it's huge and looks a bit daft (white with pandas all over it - I look like an oversized toddler!), but it's really nice & snuggly so giving a go (in the house only!)
Our water heating is only on in the mornings now (which is when we shower so makes sense). Put on the LPG gas fire in our sitting room on last night while OH was out - the dog settled happily in front of it and it felt like an absolute treat (how ridiculous does that sound!). Will wait as long as possible before putting the heating on, the weather forecast just said next week we could see temperatures of 18-20 degrees so hopefully not necessary for a while.
I have also bought a plug in throw .... tested it when it arrived but not actually used it yet.
Slow cooker meals are great, I am also loving my Ninja dual drawer air fryer - not used the oven (apart from OH cooking a pumpkin loaf the other week) since we bought it.
Slow cooker for me too. Heating on 18 degrees, so isn't coming on at all at the mo and I turn it down to 12 at night anyway. We also had our boiler serviced, it was new last year. We have a combi boiler. My boiler guy said to save money, wash your hands in cold water as you wash your hands umpteen times over the course of the day it stops the boiler from firing up so often .
We are on a fixed tariff until January with EDF, it's combined gas and electric, which has only been costing us £62.00 per month anyway, but we have cut down even further since the prices went up, so I have no idea what the new rate for us is going to be ye, according to our latest statement we are nearly £200 in credit
