We are thinking of getting one, but they take up a fair bit of cupboard space and I don't want another gadget sat at the back of me cupboard not being used.
Apparently they are very energy efficient, and very quick. The electric element is in the lid. As there is mostly only two of us, and what with this energy crisis etc, it is making me look at alternatives to putting the over on for up to two hours at a time.
I would welcome your views if you have one or used one, rather than rely on the stuff online.
I haven’t got one but it looks like a great idea to me Cj, all the reviews on Lakeland are reassuring, and you don’t need an honours degree in engineering to operate it, which is a bonus for sure 😉
I bought a multi cooker about a year ago. It’s not the same thing as it’s more like a plug in casserole dish that also pressure cooks but I’ve used it much more than I ever thought I would. I thought the same thing when I got it..that it would cut down on using the oven and it definitely has. It is a big bulky appliance though. I made room in my cupboards for that but I’m not sure I could find space for another bulky item.
This reminds me a bit of the halogen cooker I got for my parents about 5 years ago. Theirs was a big glass bowl but the element was in the lid and it cooked things quickly. I was surprised but they used it a lot. It recently had to go to the tip and as it’s just my dad he doesn’t want another. They definitely thought it was worth it. The only problem they had with it was that the whole lid had to be taken off and it was too heavy for my mum. They definitely found it quick and convenient though.
I was given one. I find it great for simple cooking and for heating things up. If you have something like a frozen lasagne or a quiche just put it in the remoska and give it the same amount of time you would give it in the oven. Saves a lot of time and energy and doesn't take up that much space. I rarely put food directly into it - I usually put the food into an ovenproof dish or something then put the dish into the remoska. A bit quicker and saves a little on the washing-up too (although I usually make my boyfriend do that anyway - but I think he appreciates it).
I didn't buy one in the end, I heard from a few people who had one that the heating element and the cooker pot itself gets very, very hot, and can be quite dangerous. Well, as I am not really at one with any kitchen device, I decided it was probably best if I stuck with me trusty slow cooker, even I can't mess that one up.
No not seen one of those before. I was bought an air fryer for Xmas, and while I was sceptical about it, it's proved to be a godsend for me. As I have a large range cooker, and the oven takes about 15 minutes to preheat, I find I am using the air fryer for everything I would normally put in the oven, and generally things are cooked in the time the main oven would have taken to preheat. I've noticed a big difference in my fuel bills too. My monthly direct debit has significantly reduced and this has to play a part in that.
I hadn't heard of this either, but I'm not really a gadget person, so saying I do have a slow cooker and my OH is harping on about an air fryer ?? Everyone seems to have one and rave about it.
Apart from cooking chips in not alot of oil - I'm so archaic what is everyone else cooking in them ?

Everything that normally goes in the oven. So meat, roast vegetables, salmon steaks, jacket potatoes, oven chips occasionally, homemade wedges or potato skins. The list is endless. It just acts like a tiny oven that heats up near instantly, and as space is so small, things cook quicker as no heat loss and also I find are very tender
