I know it's not a far flung place, but honestly, if you want to re-charge your batteries, get in touch with nature and forget about every trouble that's on your mind whilst continually looking up at the forest, then this is the place to go for a short break.
There's several dotted around the country so you're never that far from one, but once you're there, you could be anywhere. We recently went to the one in Elveden Forest, spent time in the Aqua Sana, a luxury spa in the country club, walked a lot and dined out. I love that there are no cars allowed and you either cycle or walk. You can do as much or as little as you like. You could if wanted, just curl up in your lodge in front of a real fire watching the wildlife right outside your window or go horse riding, falcony, archery, high wires, kayaking , art class, yoga, therapy rooms, the list is exhaustive.
We always go in the winter months as it's quite sheltered in the forest from the elements and it really gives you something nice to do after Christmas
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
Sounds as if you had an absolutely lovely relaxing time. It's all about making the most of where you are, which really doesn't have to be that far away.
It is a long time since we visited Center Parcs, but it has been put back on the list for a visit.
We did a couple of Centre Parcs some years ago, always in the school holidays though, so they were very busy.
To take some adult time there out of season is a brilliant idea....all those facilities without having to wade through crowds of kids and grumpy parents, sounds bliss.
It was good timing for you BellaT, just what you needed.
I have never been, I always imagined it was somewhere you'd only go if you had kids with you, so it's interesting to learn that it's good for adults too.
