A few years ago my son asked for a Thermapen for Christmas which I’d never heard of. He was big into baking at the time and had done several courses which is where he heard about them. I bought them for all the men in my family as being hard to buy for and always being in charge of the BBQ, it seemed a great present. I use ours (his actually) when I’m making jam and marmalade. He uses it to check the internal temperature of meat on the barbie and roasts. It is very easy and comfortable to hold with a probe that folds away to protect it. Very easy to clean too. There is a booklet that comes with it that tells you the temperatures needed when cooking. For instance, jam’s setting point is 105C. Ham is cooked when 74C. Egg dishes at 71C. It uses a 1xAAA Battery. Ours has never been replaced. They are not cheap but I think they are worth the money and make a great Christmas or birthday present.
That is a brilliant idea for a present LL and I am going to one as a joint pressie for our friends...they love doing bbqs, even in the rain...but...if I am honest there has definitely been several occasions when the cooking of the meat has not been as it should be. I think they will love it...thank you.
