I’m looking for ideas for gifts for Christmas. Doesn’t have to be big or expensive, just something that is very British and can go in a suitcase. Help please.
The first things that come to mind are shortbread (in a tin with something typically British on the front), tea, marmite .... although now I come to think of it, are you allowed to take those things into the US? I know they make you sign that card before landing and can't remember what you have to declare.
Tea tin with English breakfast tea but get it from Harrods, because whenever you buy something like that from them on line, it comes in a Harrods presentation box at no extra cost, what's more British than Harrods, very iconic wrapping.
Same with Libertys, Liberty print scarf for your DIL, wrapped in Liberty paper....oooohhhh
Colmans Mustard
Scottish shortbread

Something interesting though LL if you are allowed to take food is Mince pies and Christmas pudding. We had a while back an American family join us for Xmas eve, they'd never had mince pies!
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
I do love Fortnum & Masons for Christmas ideas. The iconic blue colour and like Harrods beautifully wrapped. I'm big into giving Christmas decorations as gifts as they always come out every year and remind those of you.
What about a small Paddington Bear LL, or a Paddington Bear book, also a Downton Abbey afternoon tea cookbook...on Amazon. I always think Whittard's teas are very british.
Loving all your ideas. Picking up on Downtown Abbey - and now thinking about The Crown - the oldies love them. Got a few people of my age and older to buy for. Christmas decorations a great idea. English tea 👍 They won’t allow anything with meat and dairy, Jax, so lots of food we could take. My son always asks for Cadbury’s.
LL, have you thought about Irish Linen. Tartan scarves, Welsh love spoons, whisky from Scotland. Of course, you could always get Irish Linen printed tea towels.
