He's very thorough Cj, I would have whipped the paper up and pretended I couldn't see the bumps, but it will be perfect seeing as he's doing it Can't wait to see your photos

Gosh he is thorough! I used to wallpaper doing it the way I’d watched my ma and pa doing it. Now I couldn’t face papering as it seems so daunting. I like painting though. Half way through the pine bunk beds but I’m waiting for the weather to warm up again before starting the second one as I need to strip/rub the old varnish off. When I was a kid my parents let me chalk my bedroom walls as they decorated it. I’ve often wondered if my horses were still showing when that paper came off.
My dad used to line the walls. When anaglypta first came out, he lined the ceiling in the lounge with pages from the Daily Mirror. We used to keep out of his way when he was decorations, there was absolutely no chance that we could help.

Just been peeling this stuff off in the hall Trisha and I remember at the last house taking off all the layers of paper three floors up in the stairway, it was a nightmare and took forever. Honestly I'm now a paint everything white, never go out of fashion and never anymore wallpaper stripping. I've got herb wallpaper in the new kitchen which is proving near impossible to get off, it a vymura so waterproof , now. I love herbs but not all over the walls!

Back in the 70s my parents were decorating for my grandmother in a house that her parents had owned. They were stripping wallpaper in the front room which had several layers of paper. I remember an an aunt who was art trained was very cross as she said the wallpaper should have been taken off carefully and taken to a museum. Has anyone stripped off more than one layer of paper ever?
Ooh sounds exciting Cj, building up to the big reveal
I don't know what cross lining is Trisha, but assuming it's something to do with the pattern? Yes, LL we found the original victorian wallpaper at the last house and framed a small section for historical reference for future home owners

Isn't it when you put lining paper up running from side to side rather than top to bottom?
I like that idea Bellatrix and that you left it for the new owners. When we bought our house the previous owners showed us an old newspaper clipping they’d found lining a cupboard in the house. Sadly they didn’t leave it! I think you’re right about cross lining VW, not that I’ve done any myself!
Hiya LL, I will try and get some photos together soon but we have been busy. Everywhere is now white and the floors have been done in a mid oak flooring. The kitchen is mostly finished and we've had the original style windows put back in at the front of house. Changed some of the odd doors to glass ones to match the glass hall. Have spent most of the spring/summer working on the garden trying to get some decent long term plants established, so I won't have to do it again. Still to be done is a bathroom, driveway and the ceilings throughout. We are also going to do a bananary on the side. We've done everything ourselves apart from the windows, but it's looking good so far really enjoy living here, peaceful, green and nice neighbors.

Wow B, you’ve done so much already, and just my kind of style too 😀
