I feel it is more important now, more then ever to create a space for yourself that makes you feel good about yourself or just lifts your mood. Particularly with winter looming and darker nights drawing in all too quickly.
I am in the process of turning the smallest bedroom into my happy sanctuary. I do yoga in there as it is the only room with enough space to workout and even if there are people in the house, I can find a bit of peace. I have started to kit out the room with things that make me happy. An old 1970's peacock lounge chair strewned with a sheepskin rug and cushions. A selection of pictures that I like on the walls, an embroidered screen which I love to look at and a potted palm plant. I love palms and it is the only room with enough daylight that it may stand a chance of surviving.
So when I'm in here chatting away on WT or crafting or doing yoga, it's becoming a happy retreat.
Do you have a happy place ?
Even if it is a corner of a room or make a section somewhere that when you are in that space or look at that area, it makes you feel happy.
Love this topic! everyone needs a happy place for sure, it's hard to create one at the moment because of the house stuff but I always feel happy in my kitchen, probably because it looks out onto the garden and there is a lot of wood and plants in the kitchen. Have slow autumn jazz on in there streaming all day, so it's soothing as soon as you walk in apart from that my best happy place is laying in the bath, I can do that for a good couple of hours , just keep topping it up, take my coffee with me too
I didn't know you did Yoga SD
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
I’m saying my kitchen too. It’s warm as we have an old aga and a view into the garden from the kitchen table. Mostly though I think it’s because we had the kitchen redone last year and I’m still so happy with our choices of cabinets, colour, curtains, etc.
The lady who came to view my house said yesterday that she felt she could lean on the worktop and stare out at the garden for hours, it's a funny mesmerizing window view, I knew what she meant, I do it myself.
Nice that you're so pleased with your kitchen reno LL
