Anyone want to share their 'shaggy dog' stories with the rest of us?
This is my dog, she is a dalmation/collie, but most people assume she is a dalmation, and so kids love her. She is very soft and gentle with us, but she really is the ultimate alpha female, and will not take any cheek from any dog or even dogs.
It is amazing how they can tell long before us if the other dog wants to play or fight, but I can tell my the pull on the lead which is which. If she is pulling high, she is preparing to play. If the pull is low, I can tell that the growling and barking is just about to start.
She's lovely. I love to see dogs running around on the beach, they get so much enjoyment. It's nice to see some dogs greeting each other like old friends. You can really pick out the trouble makers, they snap and bark at other dogs. Their owners don't have any control and have to wait until the dog decides to come back!

What a lovely dog 6herry:) I've had two dogs in the past, lived very long lives for the breeds but succumbed to old age in the end. I have always had cats and have two at the moment. One is coming up to 19 and the other just over 1.
I do love dogs though, get quite tearful watching supervet.

Sometimes it will depend on the breed. Sighthounds can be sensitive to some brands. Don't go for the cheaper Dr Martin ones though - not the bets - I use Frontline and Drontal
I am a dog owner to be. I’m getting a puppy in the spring and it will be my very first dog ever. What Flea and Tick prevention products do you guys recommend. I don’t have any experience with anything on the market. I surfed through spam removed but still need your advice

Cheers B - just plans went awry. OH's mum took a tumble so he had to take her to casualty at 11.30pm Friday night - he wasn't allowed in so sat in car till 6.30am. He was frozen bless him as dashed out just in shorts and t-shirt. Then hours drive home so spent Saturday till 2pm in bed. Our day out plans cancelled. Sort of went downhill from there lol
How is she now VW? Poor guy and sorry about your plans too. Note to selves: keep "ready for anything kit" in the boot of the car, as proved, you just never know.

I did remind him that I'd said ages ago to replace the big blanket that used to live in there...... She has been to another hospital today that is quite well renowned and a brilliant hospiatl for bones and orthapaedic issues. She has to go back again tomorrow as they have said its not a hairline crack in the humerus, but the bone is actually out of place at the top!! She was sent home originally with a tiny sling and just told to rest it!! Mind you, Shrewsbury hospital has not got the best reputation!!
VW, how is everything now? It must have been difficult for your OH to be in the car not knowing what was happening. I keep an emergency blanket in the boot, a!ing with a bottle of water, boiled sweets and a small shovel (in case of heavy snow).
