I have always loved photography and took lots of pictures with a Nikon 35mm camera I saved hard for, back in the days of film. I must admit to being wary of the change to digital but so glad I did; for one thing, it’s so much cheaper. I remember well, taking a film to be developed, only to get just a few decent shots from a 36 film. Now I must have thousands of images, but do miss a photo album to flick through. However, I find myself just using my mobile phone to take pictures a lot of the time, as it’s so portable, and the pics are excellent quality. OH bought me a 400mm telephoto lens last year and I want to try and find time to go to the local nature reserve to try and get some decent kingfisher shots. Have treated myself to. New camera bag this week....needed a little retail therapy lol
I love photography too vw. My Dad was a professional photographer in Whitefield Manchester and was very well known and very much in demand, (He is no longer with us having died several years ago) I always have a small digital camera in my handbag and I love trees/the woods and I take lots of photos of them/nature etc. It's something you need an 'eye' for. I'd never be without my camera.
My hubs was a keen photographer. He used to develop all the roll films and we had the bathroom 'blacked out ' using boards over the window and a heavy curtain over the door. When digital came out, he bought a photo printer. I'm sure that we still have it somewhere. VW and Linda, it's a lovely hobby.

You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. C. S. Lewis
The first digital consumer cameras were sold in the late 1990s, just after I was born, so I have come straight into the digital age.
I developed (pun intended) an interest in photography at an early age. Up until the present time I have been self-taught, never having received any form of professional training.
I like to think I have a good eye for composition, but my main reason I take photos is for my own pleasure.
I have a great passion for horses, right from being a child really, so you can imagine I am now in seventh heaven living here with the New Forest Ponies literally on my doorstep. They feature heavily in my photographic outings
I agree with vwcamperfan, digital photography is much cheaper than the older film cameras. You can take hundreds of digital photos, as many as your memory card will take really, and you don't have to worry about all the shots that aren't going to be 'keepers.'
Plus, you can share your best ones with your friends much easier too, either through Facebook or email, etc.
You could still have a photo album if you wanted to though. Get photo-quality paper and print the best ones, so you can still enjoy the physical feel of your photos.

Photography is a passion and we both have it vw
Oh wow - something else we have in common. I sap away very often, then spend hours deleting duplicates lol

I always fancied turning my attic into a dark room. Dabbled a bit with developing just before leaving school. fascinating watching the pictures appear in the tray!
I probably have 20,000 photos stored in the cloud taken both on my iPhone and downloaded from cameras. I had a fab little camera that lived in my handbag then decided to go bigger so bought a bridge camera only to find that in bright sunlight and it having no view finder, I couldn’t see what I was trying to take. So then OH gave me another as a present wihich was better but I couldn’t zoom I far enough so then I bought a new lens. It’s very heavy. So now I use my iPhone! Perhaps we should all post a favourite photo we’ve taken during lockdown.
OK - this was a photo taken, just on my phone, in the first few weeks of lockdown, when we were only allowed out for a brief walk each day. The recently built flats were carefully built close to this lovely old oak tree, that they didn't damage during the build thankfully. The blue skies really set it off I think.
That's a lovely photo VW I like the way the block of flats create a "white board" behind the tree and the sky is just lovely
Here's my offering. It's a picture of my winning sunflower, complete with Bee, from our family competition during lockdown, was a great way to interact with the family.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.

Beautiful sunflower!! I bought some 'giant' sunflower seed from Ebay - I should have known better - when they came they were 5 loose seeds that were probably from the supermarket. The have grown - precisely 2 foot high, and are yet to flower
I’m laughing at the sunflower story. I planted some in loo roll tubes, lovingly cared for them until they were about 3 inches high ( sorry don’t work in cm) planted them out. They are now 5 inches tall. 😩
Sophia and I went for an early morning walk in Anderwood Inclosure near Burley on 31 May 2020 at 7.30am. It was a beautifully sunny morning and there were Foxgloves everywhere.
Photo taken with my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 digital camera.
