Whether you are a supporter of our Royal family or not, I think that we all have to respect Queen Elizabeth for the work that she has put in over the years. I am watching the coverage on the BBC, it seems that all the reporters are wearing black ties. Why do I have the feeling that she has already passed away?

Call me a sceptic, but Sky News have been showing the union flag on the roof of Buckingham Palace on and off since the news was announced, as though they are expecting it to be lowered very soon.
This is such a sad time for our country now. Why did we always feel as if she would go on forever. To think that this wonderful woman continued her work, seeing in the new Prime Minister only 2 days before her passing.
To watch the world pay tribute to this lady is quite humbling.
Though this sad issue had been pendant for a few month, i was deeply shocked hearing the news yesterday and that's why i wanted to be back here. I was just 6 when I watched her coronation ceremony on TV, and it was something like a fairy tale ! "Passing of an age", that's the title of a chapter of John Galsworthy's "Forsyte Saga", describing Queen Victoria's funeral in 1901, and that'sjust hat I feel today. She doubtless was the last great figure of the history of XXth century. Yesterday night, here in France, TV programs were altered and most of us share your sorrow. She was a great monarch and a great lady. May she rest in peace !
Spent days feeling like I've personally lost a family member, a strange thing to say I know but it's cut deep. Anyone who ever felt the royal family were an extravagance, have never really looked into what The Queen and them have done for years and years. The Queen has personally built bridges with other countries and never stopped working from the time she was Queen - she did what she promised and did it exceptionally well, an extraordinary woman, the like of which we'll never see again.
I see that the statue of Jesus in Rio de Janero, Brazil - Christ the redeemer, was lit up in the colours of the union flag as a mark of respect and 3 days of mourning were declared by the Brazillian government - her reach was far and wide.
I loved what president Macron said Shaliby " to you she was your Queen - to the rest of the world, she was The Queen.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
Judging by the number of people flocking to Edinburgh and now London to see the Queen lying in state it seems as though you are not alone in your deep sense of loss B. Anyone planning to go?
I definitely won’t be going Jax, just enjoying viewing from home.
Listening to local radio this morning and one of the presenters, Justin Dealy, is in London doing the night shift, he was chatting to people in the queue waiting to get into Westminster Hall to pay their respects to Her Majesty, when suddenly at 2am, Police arrived nearby, coach loads of people and then horse riders and marching bands, then a full rehearsal for Monday went ahead right there and then, he said it was amazing and Monday will be incredible, I am so proud to be British, we do this so brilliantly.
He was interviewing lots of people and plenty from our area, they were pleased to be able to have this chance, there is a friendly and caring atmosphere in the queue, and when the café’s and coffee shops opened at about 5am, people were leaving the queue to get refreshments and returning to their spot, how lovely is that 💕
Dear friends Yesterday, I watched the procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. I think nowhere in the world could there be such a close sharing between state, military dignity ( ? sorry, see what I mean?) and popular emotion, as Jazzy says. Shed tears - the crown on her coffin - that she wore on her Coronation ceremony, that must have been so heavy on a young woman's head ...And that, throughout her life, she was "up to" ! Also much impressed by Princess Anne in her military uniform next to her brother. As no longer familiar with the site, also posted about this topic on : womensthoughts.co.uk/thread/2408/shaliby-back-after-long-time Oh, I must tell you - a friend of mine (he 's a manager at the Ministry of Economy and Finance )took a day off to be able to watch her Majesty's ceremony on Monday ( must say he also did to watch William and Kate's wedding some years ago ! Soon back XOXO
It's been an extraordinary week. Watched some beautiful footage of the Queen from child til her final days, she was quite something. She was so good at building bridges between countries. I hope King Charles does well in his new role, he has certainly been just about everywhere this past week and the amount of walking he's done too at 73!
I think Princess Anne, would have been a wonderful Queen had she been the eldest, always liked her no nonsense approach to things.
King Charles said he would miss his mother terribly, he would miss their conversations and private times with her. My mum said to me yesterday that it is the warmth you get from your older generation which can never be replaced when they have gone. I thought about this all evening, and knew that when my mum goes that warmth from my life will go too and it's a special thing that can't be replaced by anyone else.

dear friends I've spent the last 5 hours or so watching Queen Elizabeth's funeral BBC coverage on You Tube. Difficult to find an accurate word : amazing, breathtaking ... heartbreaking. Maybe I'm one of the oldest members of this forum who can remember watching her coronation ceremony on TV - so, the crown, the sceptre and the globe on the coffin, OMG...The beginning and the end of an age ... Sure I had never witnessed and will not ever see anything equal to it ! May your dear Queen rest in peace and may the Lord bless King Charles and his family ! (I like your little prince and his sister, they must be about the same age as Charles and Ann when their mother became queen).
