What drinks to you get in at Xmas, that you don't normally drink the rest of the year? I've bought a nice bottle of port - will probably last me years! A small brandy and of course Baileys.
I like port VW, I have a nice bottle of elderflower and port liquer too which has lasted me years.
Whiskey and Ginger is lovely too emmalouise. I'm not a drinker the rest of the year but theres something about Christmas that makes you want something nice

I have an allergic reaction to anything with alcohol in. Even Christmas cake etc. My throat and lips are affected, it's frightening. I used to be partial to a nice gin and tonic. I now stick to fresh orange and soda.

I don't touch alcohol either, Trisha: I take medication and aren't allowed to drink. BUT I don't miss drinking. I simply don't care for alcohol. I have drank in the past but I didn't enjoy it and didn't continue.

Aw that's not nice - my friend is the same - she used to drink, but now can't touch it, or anything with orange in. Recently when round at mine I introduced her to non alcoholic red wine. She had a tiny taste, and no reaction happened, so is now chuffed she can have a glass of something resembling wine with a meal that doesn't make her ill
I bought a bottle of flavoured vodka last Christmas and I’ve still got most of it left. I might treat myself to a bottle of Amaretto. What I do like are those ready made cocktails from M&S. I don’t have them often but I do like to keep a few in. My favourites are the porn star martini and the mojito. I mean obviously the real thing is better but these are not a bad standby.
I like to make Aperol spritz at Christmas, it's normally made with Prosecco, Aperol and soda, and is a very pretty colour and reminds me of hot sunny days.
Trouble is, I find it very sweet, so instead of Prosecco I use a French Cremant as it is much dryer or a Spanish Cava, also quite dry. This year instead of Aperol I am trying to find the Italian version called del Professore Aperitivo. I had a spritz made with this in the summer and I really enjoyed it as the Aperitivo is not nearly as sweet as Aperol.
We buy the alcohol free wine from time to time, it's very nice if you get a good one which isn't too sweet.
Mead seems to be very on trend at the moment and I have got a couple of bottles for my SIL. One is by Bullet for my Valentine and is called Demon and the other is a Viking red blood mead, labels are lovely, I hope he enjoys them. I'm a sucker for an interesting bottle.
Got my mum a bottle of Vintage 2015 Vueve Clicquot Champagne, her favourite brand and some different coloured champagne glasses, she likes to drink champagne Christmas morning breakfast

I actually like those drinks. Alas, I am on medication and cannot indulge!
Ah, i see, MCG. My husband is on medication too and can't have any alcohol. Mind you Christmas is the only time of year we would probably have something and then only with food. I had a lovely glass of mulled wine at my daughters other day. That really warms you up.
Does anyone here make their own mulled wine?
