This is a death that broke my heart Shaliby, loved this guy. Such an unusual voice, huge creative genius and a real depth of personality and such stage presence - Major Tom, Queen Bitch and Star man are the first ones I think of

There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.

Mitterrand ... ? Achieved his main goal, "Power" ! Managed to veil his (minor) role in Pétain's "Etat Français " and to be recognized as a French Patriot, member of a "maquis"...Fooled everybody to be elected in 1981, especially the French communists, whose vote he needed to be elected. Ruined French economy for a long time with such measures as 60/retirement age, 35h workhours /a week.
But the man was extremely cultured and elegant, had a great "charisma" and had no scruples, he promised "better tomorrows" - and of course like most French educators, I voted for him !

I recently saw a documentary series about castles and this came up in it, was quite horrific to think about how terrified those people must have been when they realised they weren't being helped but trapped.. The black death was just a ruse though wasn't it.. not the real reason they wanted them gone, I thought it was to do with money lending which was against Christian beiefs?

What would I get Kate? I would get her a book of poetry/essays written by children, because children write the funniest things and she loves children.

There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.

Well I never knew that we gave refuge to the 1st president of France until he died. A troubled family all round.

Joan of arc a young girl of 19 whose remains were thrown into the Seine river. I only knew the story from the film with Ingrid Bergman. Know a little more now.

Love the idea of your gift B - she would definitely enjoy that and they sure do. A jar of homemade chutney came to mind, when I read your question Jax, as it was the first Christmas gift she gave to the queen.

She has her work cut out for her.

Fours years have gone by already since the start of the pandemic. Remember hearing about 2 students over here that were the first announced to have it. We never knew what would happen next.

I watched the series about Mr Selfridge. I never know how true to life they really are.
