Well I did it. I’ve not driven it today as due to a misunderstanding at the garage I didn’t get it fully charged. It’s plugged in to an ordinary plug at the moment using what is charmingly called a granny cable. It’s really slow. OS got one with his Tesla so I’m using that. It’s so different. I know I’ll get used to it but at the moment I don’t feel I can just jump into it a drive off like I did with my Twingo. I’ll be driving it tomorrow though.
Thank you Jax. I took my left shoe off when I drove home and it really helped.
It’s a beautiful car. It’s metallic titanium grey and can appear grey, blue or even purple depending on the light.
I’ve definitely got used to it. It’s a slightly bigger car than I’m used to but not big. It’s about the size of the Renault Clio. I still take my left shoe off if I’m driving any distance. It’s a dream to drive though. We got a cancellation for the podpoint so I can charge up at home and I can see that even though my electricity bill is going to be higher it’s still a lot less than petrol. The thing that bothers me most is seeing how my son struggles with the chargers outside. When I’ve been with him he’s usually used the Tesla superchargers and they’re just plug in for about 15 mins but only teslas can use these. When he’s used others he’s struggled with getting the apps to connect and work and he’s even had to give up one when I was with him. He’s really tech savvy so if he can’t manage them then then I have no chance. They also take time but I can always have a coffee while I put a few percent on. Any really long trips I take I’d have to plan carefully. If I was going to the van or any other place within 200 miles I could get there on a full charge and then I’d use the trickle charger plugged in to an ordinary plug and just leave it overnight hanging out of the window. I’ll hardly ever have to use these because if I’m travelling a long distance I’d use the train. My old car had no fancy things but this one unlocks and locks all by itself when I get near it or walk away. It also puts the handbrake on by itself if I open the door. I love all these things that I’ve never had before.
Sounds like you're really enjoying your new car Magggzz, I'm really happy for you. So nice to have something really special and fun. The Tesla chargers for Tesla users are free are they not? if I'm correct that's a great little extra.
When I was in Ireland, a relative drove me back to the airport in a Jaguar i pace (all electric) It was a real treat. I took photos of it for OH, as it's his 2nd favourite, after the Tesla

Sorry to hear that Magggzzz, happens to all of us at some time, such a shame it's your lovely new vehicle though. Hope you both get over it quickly and have many years of happy motoring together.
If it makes you feel any better, years ago I was living in a rented room in a shared house after a marriage break-up, my ex had a habit of stalking me so one day as i was reversing off the drive, I could see his car at the end of the road and a second's lack of concentration meant I reversed my car straight into a car parked outside the house opposite. Turned out the guy had literally just bought it and had parked it outside the house while he went to get his family out to admire it .... he was very nice about it, considering the circumstances, but you can imagine how embarrassed I was
Oh Magggzz, so sorry to hear that - as Jax said, it's easily done and I agree it makes you feel really low and upset with yourself. I'd never had an incident too until a about 4 years ago, got a citroen, a little car at the time and I reversed it into a column on John lewis car park - I didn't see the column! I remember feeling so disappointed with myself, couldn't believe id done it, now I have a hang up about reversing.
Hope you can get it fixed soon and be on your way again and put it behind you

Sorry to learn of your bump Magggzzz. My husband once reversed off our drive into my mum&dad’s brand new car! These things happen so don’t give yourself too hard a telling off.
People have pointed out that this sort of thing is actually more likely to happen with a new car as you’re not so used to driving it. Also with it being electric it’s incredibly responsive. The slightest touch and you’re off.
I love all your stories. It shows these things can happen to anyone.
Magggzzz, how are you getting on with your new car? Our daughter has a Toyota hybrid, I love it. Does your car have the parking aid? It's so much better than mine.
