Had an email from Farrow and Ball this morning on using the colour green so clicked through. Lots of photos of green inspiration so adding this link in hope it is of use Magggzzz.
Some of these are so beautiful. There’s one of a dresser where some has been painted and some bits left as pine. I think I might use that idea.
I have some pine furniture I’m going to paint. I think I might use that idea. I was actually thinking of getting some metallic paint for the knobs but this might be a better idea.
The colours are lovely. I’m actually leaning towards wallpaper in the lounge but I hate everything I’ve seen so far. The only paper I like is the one I’ve got in my kitchen.I can get it again but I think that would be weird.
I’m going with pink above the dado. I’ve looked at loads of wallpapers and I don’t like any of them. Pink is warm and will look nice. It’s very far from neutral though. I was thinking of when I eventually sell this house but I think I’ll just have what I want.
Now just to choose the shade. I’m thinking strawberry ice cream.
Typically for me I rooted through the discounted stuff and I’ve ended up with a charcoal colour for beneath the dado which I’ve decided to keep. I’d rather have it than have a mark on the wall that you can always see. The dado, woodwork and ceiling is going to be very boring white. I’m struggling with the walls. I thought I fancied wallpaper but I fell like I’ve looked at every wallpaper in the uk and I hate it all. So in the end I’m going with pink. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea but I like it. I’m thinking of a kind of strawberry ice cream colour. What I was going to ask you though is I looked at some of the pictures and I now love the idea of painting parts of the units and not the whole thing. I’ve got a very pale grey chalky paint. I have two cupboards with drawers at the top, a bookcase and a coffee table with a shelf below. They’re all much too good to replace but the pine is now orange and I hate it. Which bits do you think I should paint. Do you think just the door and drawer fronts leaving out the knobs. What about the sides. What about the bookcase. You ladies are all experts and I’m useless at this.
I’m no good at this sort of thing Magggzzz. I have to look at photos and copy, no coming up with anything original for me. That’s why I like googling images and Pinterest. One thing that I do think is that you will probably need to strip the whole of the furniture rather than having bits of orange pine showing. Sunny Days is very good at this sort of thing.
I have painted many a piece of furniture and re-painted 😀. I often leave the tops pine Magggzzz. Have done this with our kitchen table. Painted everything bar the top, and also an old kitchen dresser. Everything bar the top, even the knobs, but that’s a personal preference.
I just sand everything lightly first so the paint can grip and then roller with a small roller as I feel it doesn’t show brush strokes, but each to their own.
