Hi ladies - work was fun (it is most days but the kitchen I'm currently looking after has suffered knock after knock for the last two years, and honestly, I don't know how they've come through it!)
But today was fun. After work, I had to take the car for it's MOT. I ALWAYS go to a local garage that I've used since I moved up here in 2007, but 6 years ago, I got myself a decent car from a dealership, on lease for four years, which I then traded back in with the same dealership for another car. They promised to look after "good clients" and even got me a bunch of flowers when I had to wait an extra week for the new car as the previous owner had fudged up with the log book. They also put me on their facebbok page as a returning customer!
Not long after I got the car, I gave it a wash and found a small dent and scratch over the back wheel arch. Looked like I'd been trolleyed, so I took photos and emailed the dealership for advice or a quote as I didn't know if the damage had been done before I got the car or just after. As I knew I would be returning the car at the end of the lease, I need it to be in tiptop condition so I can get a good deal on my next one. But, no answer. Then covid hit and the world went tits-up. I emailed again a few months later, and even noted it on a stasfaction survey but to no avail. I'm now three week off being two years into a four year lease.
Anyhoo, the dealership sent me a reminder about the MOT being due, so I decided to give them a chance. £9 more than what the independent charges, but I would be guaranteed a seat in a nice warm showroom where I wouldn't be bothered by noisy kids, noisy machinery, cold drafts, greasy chairs and questionable hot drinks ...
Car was done on time, and after I'd paid, I remebered the dent and asked if the mechanic could take a look to give me a quote. He took a look and explained he'd do the quote but it might be cheaper to go to a smaller independent who may be able to do it cheaper. I explained about the emails and he asked who the salesman was. Then he took me back inside and asked the salesman (same salesman for both cars) about it. He remembered me, I joked about asking if it was too early to find my next car ready for feb 2024 as I'd like a convertible, and he said oh I'm sure we can sort that out, yes I'm sorry about the email, do the repair through aftersales care, no charge.
:-O So It goes in for three days' work on the 15th feb and they are giving me a courtesy car to use all free of charge.
Today was a good day!
