I saw an afternoon course on arm knitting, thought it would be fun (although I have a sore shoulder at the moment so, probably need to wait til that's better). Inspired by VWC, I have ordered some wool and a circular needle to knit a blanket in chunky wool, I've made a few bits recently, a couple of throws and a cushion cover, can't beat the satisfaction of making something (but when I've knitted garments, they've always ended up looking awful once I've put them together - it's the making I like, rather than the finished article)
I’m at my Grandaughter’s this week, we’re sewing a tiered peasant skirt. This will be the first thing she’s made on her own machine. It’s been fun teaching her.

I look at kids, sitting cross legged, on bare floorboards without a cushion, with no back support, and I just think "How?"
They are so fortunate and they just take it for granted. As I did when I was that age....
I love to see children like this - not glued to a screen. She looks like she's concentrating hard on cutting that pattern out right. And look at those eyelashes - she will break some hearts when she's older I bet!!
They're fantastic, I am envious! My wool arrived today - it's gorgeous, extra chunky soft off white wool ready to make a blanket, can't wait to get started!
Beckyboo, loving the photo of your beautiful grandaughter, the moment is really captured there. What gorgeous hair she has and the top she has on is just lovely.
Hope she really enjoys making the skirt with you. You must be really proud of her.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
So nice that her grandmother is teaching her to to sew, my Nana taught me to knit and crochet when I was a child and I often think of it, it was a great bonding experience and taught me a skill I still enjoy (although I haven't actually crocheted for many years, maybe I should have another go at it).
