Enyd Blyten departed on November 28th,1968. Are her books among your favourite ? I so much enjoyed the French translations of " Famous Five" and "Secret Seven" !
I remember mum reading Brer Rabbit to us. I don't remember her reading others as the books were chosen to suit my brothers rather than me as they were older, hence Tom Browns schooldays etc about a boys school? I used to fall asleep anyway. Somethings making me think, these were not modern day books at the time, probably already old books? Like classics already on the bookshelf.
I read the Enid Blyton books to my children, Wishing Chair..Faraway Tree
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
Favourite books ... What about Caroline Quine (or Carolyn Keene), author of the "Nancy Dew" mystery stories, in French "Alice"...I think my interest in "detective stories" dates back to my reading "the Secret of the Old clock" when i was 12 !
